During the second observation, the client demonstrated how he manages with the washing machine. Newer models with displays tend to complicate operation rather than simplify it. However, thanks to the tactile markings, he can start the washing machine for both the 60-degree and 40-degree wash cycles. If he makes a mistake while entering settings, he uses the door opener as a workaround to restart the input process from the beginning.

During the second observation, we also looked at the kitchen appliances. The appliances in this client's household are not designed for people with visual impairments, and without residual vision, this cooktop would be completely unusable. The pot is displayed on the screen based on its position on the cooktop and must be selected by the client.

A challenge with the ceramic glass cooktop is positioning the pot. Felix showed me possible markings on the cooking spoon and the cooktop to help position the pot correctly.

To determine the required height for effective tactile recognition, I initially tested simple cardboard models and then created 3D-printed risers for illustration. Ultimately, I chose the 6 mm riser over the 10 mm riser.

During the cooking process, the client stirred only superficially. As a result, the potatoes that were directly in contact with the bottom of the pan burned. Without guidance from a sighted person, the client would have eaten burnt potatoes, which could be harmful to health.

During the home economics class, the oven was used. Rebekka Scholl recommends always loading the oven when it is turned off for people with visual impairments, as inserting the baking tray can already be challenging for sighted individuals.

During the second observation, the client demonstrated how he manages with the washing machine. Newer models with displays tend to complicate operation rather than simplify it. However, thanks to the tactile markings, he can start the washing machine for both the 60-degree and 40-degree wash cycles. If he makes a mistake while entering settings, he uses the door opener as a workaround to restart the input process from the beginning.

During the second observation, we also looked at the kitchen appliances. The appliances in this client's household are not designed for people with visual impairments, and without residual vision, this cooktop would be completely unusable. The pot is displayed on the screen based on its position on the cooktop and must be selected by the client.

A challenge with the ceramic glass cooktop is positioning the pot. Felix showed me possible markings on the cooking spoon and the cooktop to help position the pot correctly.

During the cooking process, the client stirred only superficially. As a result, the potatoes that were directly in contact with the bottom of the pan burned. Without guidance from a sighted person, the client would have eaten burnt potatoes, which could be harmful to health.

Bei Feelware in Lörrach hatte ich die Möglichkeit, selbst auszuprobieren, die herkömmlichen Knöpfe am Backofen und Herd gegen die sprechenden Knöpfe von Feelware auszutauschen. Es war erstaunlich einfach!

Während der zweiten Hospitation zeigte der Klient, wie er mit der Waschmaschine zurechtkommt. Neuere Modelle mit Displays erschweren die Bedienung eher, anstatt sie zu vereinfachen. Dank der taktilen Markierungen kann die Waschmaschine jedoch sowohl im 60-Grad- als auch im 40-Grad-Waschgang gestartet werden. Sollte sich der Klient einmal vertippen, nutzt er den Türöffner als Workaround, um den Eingabeprozess von vorne zu starten.<br />

Bei der zweiten Hospitation haben wir auch die Küchengeräte angeschaut. Die Geräte im Haushalt dieses Klienten sind überhaupt nicht für Menschen mit Sehbehinderung ausgelegt, und ohne Sehrest wäre diese Kochplatte überhaupt nicht bedienbar. Der Kochtopf wird auf dem Display angezeigt, je nach Position auf dem Kochfeld, und muss vom Klienten ausgewählt werden.<br />

Eine Schwierigkeit beim Glaskeramikkochfeld ist die Positionierung des Kochtopfs. Hier zeigte mir Felix mögliche Markierungen am Kochlöffel und am Kochfeld, um den Topf korrekt positionieren zu können.

Allerdings konnte ich das Problem der möglichen Ansammlung von Essensresten und Schmutz, das die Funktion beeinträchtigen könnte, nicht vermeiden. Die Reinigung wäre zu herausfordernd geworden.

Um herauszufinden, welche Erhöhung erforderlich ist, um gut ertastbar zu sein, habe ich dies zunächst an einfache Kartonmodelle getestet und anschliessend 3D-gedruckte Erhöhungen zur Veranschaulichung erstellt. Ich habe mich letztendlich für die 6 mm <br />
und nicht für die 10 mm Erhöhung entschieden.

Der neuere Griff bietet mehr Auflagefläche für sicheres Ausgießen. Zudem steht er weniger weit vom Topf ab, wodurch sich der Topf einfacher verstauen lässt.

Während des Kochprozesses rührte die Klientin nur oberflächlich um. Die Kartoffeln, die am Boden der Pfanne lagen, brannten daher an. Ohne Hinweise von einer sehenden Person hätte die Klientin verbrannte Kartoffeln gegessen, die gesundheitsschädlich sind.<br />

Beim Hauswirtschaftsunterricht wurde der Backofen verwendet. Rebekka Scholl empfiehlt, den Backofen bei Menschen mit Sehbehinderung immer im ausgeschalteten Zustand zu befüllen, da das Einschieben des Backblechs bereits für sehende Menschen eine Herausforderung darstellen kann.

Als Inspiration für den Bedienungs-Slider diente mir dieses Spiel aus dem SZBlind-Hilfsmittelshop. Ich konnte es bei meinem Besuch in Lenzburg ausprobieren.
